"For the arms and national colours we pray, oh Lord, For the great war of the nations we pray, oh Lord" wrote Adam Mickiewicz, the greatest Polish Romantic poet. His prayer was joined by an anonymous text of national prophecy, written allegedly in 1894, that is twenty years before the outbreak of the First World War, as a result of which Poland regained its independence:
"In two decades the time will come/ When the fire will spring from the sky/ The whole world will get choked with blood/ Wernyhoras songs will come true/ Poland will rise from the ravages of world war."

Diese angebliche Prophezeiung Wernyhoras ist garantiert erst 1914
erdichtet worden, schon allein, weil der Begriff "Weltkrieg" damals
noch gar nicht usus war.
Wernyhora ist in Polen eine Art Siegfried-Gestalt, die Polen
zurückbringt auf seine historische Größe des 16./17.Jahrhunderts.
Es ist davon auszugehen, daß ihm eine Menge
"Prophezeiungen" zugeschrieben werden, die
sich irgendwelche patriotischen
polnischen/ukrainischen´Poeten
und Schriftsteller/Dramaturgen
erdacht haben.
Aber nichtsdestotrotz ein Dankeschön - diesen Beitrag von
"master2lu" von 2003 kannte ich bisher nicht, mitsamt den
Kernaussagen von Wernyhora: Die Aussagen über den
polnischen Papst haben sich offensichtlich erfüllt.
