Hallo,

in der irischen Folklore seit Jahrhunderten bekannt ist die Prophezeiung des Heiligen Patrick, welche u.a. besagt, dass Irland niemals von "Barbaren" erobert wird und 7 Jahre vor dem Jüngsten Gericht in den Meeresfluten untergeht, um die Iren von den Endzeitgreueln zu verschonen:

"These are the three prayers of St. Patrick, as they were delivered to us by the Hibernians, entreating that all should be received on the day of judgment, if we should repent even in the last days of our life:
That he should not be shut up in hell. That barbarian nations should never have the rule over us. That no one shall conquer us, that is the Scots, before seven years previous to the day of judgment, because seven years before the judgment we shall be destroyed in the sea, this is the third"

Diese Prophezeiung geht aufs 7. Jahrhundert zurück und wird oft assoziiert mit einer anderen Prophezeiung, die St. Colmcille (St. Columba) zugeschrieben wird:
"I concede a favour to them without exception,
and St Patrick also did concede the same;
that seven years before the last day,
the sea shall submerge Eirin by one Inundation"
